India has been a priority partner country of German development cooperation for more than 50 years, and for almost all of this period GIZ (http://www.gtz.de/en)has been active here on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). In 2008, India and Germany celebrated 50 years of successful development cooperation. 
Different levels of development can be seen side by side in the society and economy of India. The rapid growth of the economy since the early 1990s and the Government of India's increased commitment to accelerating social development present a unique opportunity for establishing a sustainable economy based on inclusive growth.

• The Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana of Tribal Development Department (http://tribalvtcgujarat.org) under Chief Minister’s 10-PointProgramme has made large cale investments for development of Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP) areas of Gujarat. The large part of the investment has been made to enhance livelihood resources of the ST families through projects in Education, Agriculture sector, Dairy sector and other skill enhancement activities. The goal for all these activities is to finally double the income of the ST families and create wealth and well-being in ITDP areas.
• Tribal Development Department (TDD), Government of Gujarat has formulated a Policy to set up Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) in Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) areas of Gujarat to provide employment oriented technical skill training for Scheduled Tribal (ST) youth. This policy has been devised under Public Private Partnership to facilitate rural poverty alleviation and also to bring qualitative change in the lives of tribal people.
